Updates Appear at the Bottom of the Blog

Greetings from the cafe at my 2 year-olds preschool. Today is his first day and I dropped him off. I was thrilled to find that they have wireless internet here. It totally SUCKS to drop your trusting happy baby boy off and have to walk away as he screams at you. I'd rather have all of my teeth pulled. It is only for a few hours so I am sticking it out here and peering into the room on occasion...He, and the other five kids, are a cacophony of crying....I went through this with his older sister three years ago, and it isn't any easier.

Anyway...

Reports today in both Ottawa papers are that the Sens players are trying to persuade Foppa to come to Ottawa...I feel that Ottawa has a legit shot at Peter, but I would say that they are one of six teams. Philly, Nashville, Colorado, Vancouver, and Toronto are the other five. But knowing Peter pretty well at this point and watching how he worked very closely at last year's deadline I still stick by my previous story on Foppa.

Remember the commercial, "We will sell no wine until it's time" that used to appear in the 80's? That should be the definition of Peter Forsberg in a nutshell. He isn't even considering teams yet. Not even close. He will make sure that he is healthy before using any of his brain power on where he will play.

Peter is a very much "in the moment" type of person. He is EXTREMELY "present" when you are with him. When you are talking to him he looks right at you. When he is getting treatment on his foot THAT is all he is thinking about. And this quality is a huge part of his on ice success as well...He is a unique person in many ways.

As far as the Pitkanen rumours...not happening. no way, no how. In fact I have it from a VERY good source that at least one team, The LA Kings, inquired about Joni during conversations that would have sent Cammalleri to Edmonton prior to his re-signing in LA. Edmonton all but called Joni an untouchable. I agree with the Oilers stance here. I love Joni and believe he will be an All-Star in this league.

It has been an amazing summer for Pitkanen, eh? He went from a team that was trying to take him to arbitration to cut his pay in half to a team that considers him a virtual untouchable. Never boring in the hockey world.

More to come in just a bit. Got to check on the boy...We will be doing a Talkcast today at 2pm. We are the 5th ranked Talkcast on Talkshoe.com currently of all sports Talkcasts! So thanks for all of your support. By the way, you can now download our archived Hockeybuzz talkcasts on your ipod for free on I-Tunes by going to I-Tunes and searching Eklund in the store.

We are also talking to a few VERY big name people who may be joining our blogosphere shortly here.

Update:

Sean Burke Calls It Quits...

In my office I have several Jerseys I have collected over the years one of the oldest is a Team Canada Jersey with a #1 on it. Sad to see a good man leave the game.

The Ice Bowl Sells out in 45 minutes.

What a great day for hockey and an amazing showing of support from two cities, whose teams have had their share of ups and downs in the last decade. Two small market teams just sold 40,000 + tickets to an outdoor game on New Years Day in one of the coldest cities in North America. I will write much more on this in a bit.
