What a difference a new season and coach makes! I see great things in Brent Sutter's coaching style. He gets everyone involved, including his assistant coaches. Tough minded and knows how to win: that is the feeling I am getting from him. Lou Lamoriello picked a very good coach to guide the Devils and with Sutter's reputation, expect the Devils to be a solid team.
Great coaches know how to manage their practice ice time efficiently by getting all of their players involved. It started around 8:45AM today and the first thing I noticed was that all the players’ legs were moving constantly and wasted no time standing around watching others during the drills. Sutter commands respect from his players and he too was getting involve with the drills by letting players know the details of what is expected from them. Drill after drill, he was teaching. From the stands, I can tell that there is a new positive atmosphere in the air and as hard as the players were working, they were having fun doing so. In the end, it was Cam Janssen showing off his speed as he skated to the finish line leaving his teammates behind. However, he did have a major head start on them.
John Madden and Aaron Asham looked great. Will they be paired with Pandolfo? One thing I noticed: The Devils are a bigger team with some decent speed. More to come later.
Devils fans: You maybe disappointed to find out that the Devils individual game tickets at the Prudential Center may not be on sale along with the rest of NHL. If I were to guess, I would say maybe by mid-October they will be on sale to the general public. Keep checking for updates. If you cannot wait, there are partial and full season tickets plans available you can purchase. Go to NewJerseyDevils.com for more details or talk to a Devils season ticket holder rep.
