Aubin's deal is a two way deal and sets up a four-way battle for the goalie spot in LA. Aubin is an interesting one to say the least. Two years ago he was stellar in Pittsburgh down the stretch and has shown glimpses of that in his career, and yet talking to Leafs fans they really felt he quit on the Leafs last year and truly let in some goals that likely kept them out of the playoffs when all was said and done.

We are doing another talkcast today that will run from 2pm to 4pm. We will be taking your calls. To listen just click on Hockeybuzz Talkcast . at 2pm ET. Garth and I will be taking your calls from 2-3pm ET, and then I will be talking to one of my favorite hockey writers Eric Duhatschek at 3pm. Eric, along with Dave King, penned the new book "King of Russia." The book is a year in the life of the first Canadian hockey coach to coach in Russia. But it is much more than that. It is about the Russian Hockey system that has always appeared like a mystery to us all. And of course King's year included the whole Malkin saga as well...Malkin was a member of King's team, Magnitogorsk. The book is available on Amazon.com now in pre-order by clicking Here . The release date is October 2.

If you wish to call in to the Talkcast for the first time you must first register yourself on talkshoe.com (which is free) and then call (724) 444-7444 and enter the talkcast ID: 49244.

Other rumours today that I am chasing...

Back to the Bruins again...

The Bruins have reportedly expressed interest in Marian Hossa (e3). The Thrashers have made it known that Hossa is not being moved however, so we'll have to see how this plays out. Hossa's contract status could end up driving the Thrashers to accept a deal especially if the deal contains two top six forwards as has been rumoured.

The Leafs may be very close to a signing as well according to sources. They are in a battle with a few other teams over this player I have been told.

There are also rumours flying around connecting Marleau to Edmonton, and although at this point I have not found any reality to them I did uncover the fact that the two almost made a trade at the draft. "really close" a source told me. One of the players who looks to have possibly been involved was Staios.

The Montreal Canadiens are talking to the NJ Devils about a deal according to a few sources, and the Habs are still very much in the Marleau world as well. A source told me today, "If Doug decides to move Marleau it will be to Montreal in all likelihood, and it will be in the next few weeks as well. There are deals to be made that work for both sides."

There are many reports that Selanne is calling it quits, however I continue to hear that the reason for him not doing so yet has to do with talks with friends in Dallas, Montreal, and Philly. "Teemu would give Anaheim the first option, but the numbers may not work out. Therefore other plans are out there. Very, very "under the radar," but out there..."
