Devils Working a Deal? Vancouver looking at Bergeron? And More Rumours...

Earlier this week a source told me to pay close attention to the Devils. I have been hearing that the Devils had plans to make a major impact trade this summer, and that the first thing that would have to happen would be for Martin to sign. Now that he has this week, it could get very interesting...

In other news there is word now that Boston may be talking to Vancouver about either Mitchel or Ohlund for Partrice Bergeron, who the Islanders were discussing earlier in the week...I am quite certain that Boston is NOT done and if I would rank the teams to watch for deals in August it would go something like this...

1. Boston -needs D.... Will either move a forward to free up cap space to sign Markov, move for a d-man, or sign Tanabe or Berard.

2. Vancouver- needs O...They will either move a d-man for some scoring help or sign Anson Carter or Eric Lindros.

3. NJ- needs alot...They need to replace Rafalski and have never replaced Niedermayer. They also need a playmaker and power play help. They could make a move with Vancouver or could try and do a deal that I have heard talked about today. A deal to bring Jovo or Morris to NJ. They also could look to make an even more major move...

4. Montreal. They have depth on D, but not real quality. Markov is a number 2, but is he a #1? I don't know if anyone knows. Hamrlik will be a very interesting player that I could see being a bust or just going on a scoring rampage...Montreal also needs a center...they will bring in one by the start of camp is what I continue to hear. And as I mentioned yesterday, they are definitely talking to LA.

5. NY Rangers. They are a team on a mission to win a Cup now...but they don't have the offensive d-men to start the transition game and although they may start the season with this group I feel it is highly unlikely that they end it with this exact cast. They need a d man badly and I still hear Jovo's name tied very closely to the NYR.

6. Toronto. An interesting team with a rising star in Wellwood and a solid d corps. Much will ride on Blake of course, but this is not a season that JFJ can sit back at all...They are still looking to clear space and talking to Colorado...something has to give....

Been slow going getting UFA player info today, so I am still working on the top 25 UFA list...

Now for a segment I like to call, "EK WANTS SOMETHING FOR NOTHING."

My wife and I just finished season 3 of "Corner Gas" on DVD and we are dying to get Season 4. We are hooked. Corner Gas is a show that is played on the TV up in Canada...It is about a gas station and a diner in a small town in Saskatchewan.. If any of the people involved in Corner Gas are Hockeybuzz fans, I would trade you a Hockeybuzz hat for an early copy of season 4...:) email me...we need our fix and can't wait another month with terrible TV.
