Salary Cap could go to as much as $82 Million, Friday's Buzzcast

More interesting news coming out of the NHL Board of Governors meetings in Florida today, but the most impactful are the projections for the NHL salary cap for next season.

The cap is currently at $75 Million and with the additional revenue generated by the Vegas franchise and other factors, the league is projecting that the cap figure will go up, but how much will be determined by the NHLPA.

The Athletic’s Pierre LeBrun reports that cap would go up to $78 Million if Player’s Association wants zero inflator (which would mean no corresponding increase in escrow) and as much as $82 Million with full 5% inflator.

This could have a big effect on teams being willing to trade for players with term left on their contracts before the trade deadline and possibly re-signing players who were expected to be rentals before February 26.

We will discuss this, Seattle and much more on the Buzzcast at 3pm
