The Truth Behind Peter Forsberg Rumours. Updated UFA and Trade Rumours

From a very reliable source close to the situation: "There's not going to be any movement or negotiations involving Forsberg for awhile yet."

Peter is a unique bird. Last year during the season when I knew, without a shadow of a doubt, the teams Peter's agent had talked to about Peter in a possible trade, Peter continued to say "I know nothing about it."

And this is the thing about Peter. Foppa doesn't lie. He is a great person who is extremely sincere, and I don't think he can lie. He would be way too uncomfortable and he also doesn't look at this process like anyone I have ever met. The best I can tell, he essentially tells Baizley to do his job and not talk to him until he asks for information.

It is all about focus for Peter. Last year he was a Flyer until the day of the Preds trade. That was the first time he admitted that he would even allow a trade. He was the captain of the Flyers and that was too important to get caught up in the other stuff. I know many players talk like that, but Peter really does live it.

Recently, according to my sources, he has made it known that he doesn't even want to know what offers or interests there are (or aren't) because that implies a deadline to make a decision about playing. He WON'T adhere to any deadline, and any "source" that says he may be playing by a certain date doesn't have the accurate info.

According to a source:

"What he actually told people after the second charity games was that he planned to stay off his skates for a while, let the last surgery wound heal, continue his dryland-training rehab and then slowly work his way into on-ice practice until he knows if he can recover to a level he feels comfortable with.

When he's either reached a level that he feels is acceptable to be able to play and STAY in the lineup-- or decided that it won't happen -- he'll contact Baizley and either THEN create a short list (because Baizley IS kicking tires and doing due diligence, but that's it-- all decisions are Peter's and he's the type of player who gets actively involved in the latter stages) or else say thank you for your work and that's it."

So this all means that the Forsberg rumours involving possible teams are coming from the team side or the agent, but has not been approved by Peter yet and there is no timeline.

I remember being around Peter last year when there was a timeline regarding his return after surgery and I am not surprised by this tactic.
