Antti Niemi got off to a very rough start with the Penguins this season and was placed on waivers today. With Vegas forced to press prospect Oscar Dansk into service as a No. 1 goalie following injuries to Marc-Andre Fleury and Malcolm Subban, it might make sense for the Golden Knights to claim the former Stanley Cup winner and Vezina finalist even though he's struggled the last couple years.

Also, am hearing that despite Flyers GM Ron Hextall saying the team will probably stay in house following a 4-to-6 week injury to Andrew MacDonald, the team is considering some veteran options from the outside while Brandon Manning moves back into the starting lineup at least for now. Yes, the organization remains high on Sam Morin, but there is a reluctance to start three rookies (Robert Hagg, Travis Sanheim, Morin) especially since the defense also has a second-year player (Ivan Provorov) and third-year (Shayne Gostisbehere, who is off to the best start of his career).
