Later this morning, The NY Rangers and Sean Avery will go eyeball to eyeball in the Arbitrator's office.

How I'd love to be a fly on the wall in this meeting.

The NY Post ran an interesting article on Avery Sunday morning.

According to the article, Avery was blind-sided by comments that are to be made in the Arb brief. The comment is question:

"a reasonably effective player as well as a detriment to the team,"

"It's hard not to take something like that personally and not to be emotional about it," Avery told the Post.

Avery was traded to the Rangers from the Kings on February 5, 2007.

The trade paid immediate dividends, as The Rangers went 17-6-6 with Avery in the lineup.

"I know this is part of the business, I know this is part of the process, but it's extremely disappointing to read something like that coming from Slats [GM Glen Sather] and not to be offended by it. "

"I certainly don't think I was a detriment to the team", said Avery.

Avery earned $1.1 million last season. He scored 18 goals and 30 assists for the season. He scored 20 points ( 8 goals and 12 assists) in 29 games with the Rangers.

The Rangers are so tight against their Cap that they are sqeeking right now. They have $49.3 million already commited, however, Avery and Marcel Hossa are RFAs.

So, what becomes of Avery after this Arb meeting?
