Time for Another Oil Change?
As reported by Dan Tencer here, the Oilers are in the midst of trading for a big name player. That player is someone Lowe has said that he never expected to have the chance to acquire...So let the speculation begin. There are five names that I am hearing alot about in the rumour mill, and all of them would fit the bill...
#1 Olli Jokinen. An absolute steal right now at 5.5 per for the next three years, I have heard his name link to Vancouver through a third team.
#2 Patrik Elias. The Devils are aggressively trying to make a big deal and completely re-vamp as they head into their new building.
#3 Patrick Marleau. More on him below.
#4 Erik Cole. Going back to the draft there have been rampant rumours circulating that the Oilers were trying to acquire Cole. So if this player that Lowe is speaking of is a new thing, then it may not be Cole.
#5 Jaromir Jagr. There has been talk of the Oilers and Jagr all summer and it just won't go away. Hard to imagine, but if you speak to many people they will tell you that Jagr is "quietly available" and that he is not thrilled that Nylander was not brought back.
Sharks and Sens Trade Winds
The fact that the Sharks are interested in Redden is now a strong e4. It could happen at any time I have been told, but there are "a few obstacles standing in the way" The Sens want Marleau and with good reason. This could be the ideal trade for both teams in many ways. Both players are on the last years of their current deals.
