I am hearing that Linden has signed a one year deal with the Canucks...750K The deal may not be announced for a week however...Trevor is one of the truly good people in the sport...very happy for him

There is a rumour that Emery has turned down an offer for 4 million per year again today. Could get ugly real fast.

Mike Peca and the Sabres situation.

Reports are out that Peca would like to play in Buffalo, but to this point the Sabres are still looking at other options. I hear that Peca will likely wait out the Sabres until after the Arbitration process plays out. There are people I talk to who believe that the Sabres are hoping to pick up a player or two from some teams who may be forced to walk away from rulings...One such player the Sabres really like is Cammalleri out in LA.

So where does Peca end up? If not Buffalo I am hearing the Blues, Senators and Canes are strong possibilities. Peca is one of many players who has settled in the Buffalo area and still practices in the off-season with current Sabres as Garth will tell you.

Peter Forsberg.

Yesterday in Nashville I put out that Peter has officially said he would only return to one of three teams...The Flyers, Avs, or Preds. It is very possible that the team with the best shot may indeed be the Preds. Peter made several friends in Nashville, liked the area, and did indeed say to the Preds staff as he was packing up, "Hope to see you in the Fall." Peter is alot of things, but one thing he is not is a person who just says things to be nice or without a reason. I had a few people in the Preds organization confirm with me as the day went on that they would not rule it out at all...

I am also hearing that the Red Wings will get into this, but I have yet to hear Peter say that he would go there. However, he is tight with Lidstrom, and his closest buddy is out in Vancouver...Naslund.

Danny Markov to the NY Islanders (e4).


Talking to sources it looks like the Isles may have found their man....I was told some time ago, that Comrie and Guerin were told that one of Markov, McCabe, Jovo, or Morris would be an Islander...If this happens I would expect Morris to go to Buffalo...looks like one will go to one, and one to the other....the only other team that I am hearing linked to Markov is Chicago....

Gelinas to Florida likely....longshots Buffalo or Edmonton?


There are reports out that Gelinas looks likely back to Florida, however the Sabres are looking for experience. Sources have told me that Gelinas may have to be swayed to play in Buffalo...

The Habs and Zherdev

There are still talks that a few players on the Canadiens are pushing hard and would like Bob Gainey to make a move for Zherdev. Although I seriously doubt that Gainey will be easily swayed by players, this did not start with players. The Habs have interest, some of the players are just doing some campaigning. One player texted me, "Zherdev needs to get out of there. He will explode into a star if he gets out."

Avery

The Habs also have interest in Avery, but more than a few other teams including Ottawa, Colorado, and the NY Islanders will be quick to pounce if Avery can't be kept due to cap restrictions..

Potential New Nashville Group Blown Away by the Rally

With all that has gone on in Nashville the mantras, "Until it is done, it is NOT done" and "It is a process" are all that anyone in close to the situation wants to say. But let me tell you I heard even before I arrived yesterday that this group has a great shot. And seeing them last night, meeting a few of them, even poker faced lawyers were having a hard time staying reservered. I was told by a reliable source late last night that within a week a term sheet could be done. And I know that no letter of intent has been announced, but a source told me as well that there is "only one group negotiating with the Preds" and that William "Boots" Del Biaggio has accepted the fact that the Nashville group will be the new owners and has done so with a great amount of class. Boots is 100% class and will one day own a team as he has plenty of friends in the NHL that respect him greatly.

Another Team for Sale?

There were rumours yesterday that the Mr. Katz in Edmonton may be closing in on buying the Oilers, however, I am also hearing rumblings that another team or two may be sold in the near future as well...Possibly before the start of the season. more to come on this..

And I am now going to follow up on some more rumours for you all...
