Leafs/Avs Trade Update....Habs?

Talks have gotten heavier, but the Leafs feel the Avs are asking for too much for Hejduk...There is a possibility that it could expand into a much bigger trade...the asking price for Hejduk is two young d and a top flight draft pick....Svatos is also being discussed...

this from sources in both cities and one in Alberta.

The Habs also have interest in Hejduk, but the Avs would like Komisarek.

Heatley Negotiations

Sources confirmed that the agent for Dany Heatley is in Ottawa currently discussing a possible extension that would lock Heatley up for several years to come..

Lunch with the Brieres

I was fortunate enough to spend the last few hours with Danny Briere and his lovely wife Sylvie. Danny is really fired up to be in town and is that rare athlete who is completely without pretense. I had a great time as I drove them around the city. They are down to earth and all about their three boys. We had a cheeseteak at Geno's. Danny approved of what I feel is the best cheesesteak in the world.

Hooray Souray!

You would have to figure the first time in two weeks I went out and left the house, Souray WOULD sign...Now that Souray has found his home, we are in for a long night my friends...and likely a crazy signing Friday. Souray was the key pin and watch for several others to fall...

Emery

A strong source is telling me that Ray Emery and the Senators are NOT close at this point.

Yashin

Sources are telling me that unless a team gets to over $2M per, Yashin is likely to return to Russia. Unfortunately, the three teams that are interested most, Toronto, Vancouver, and Montreal, are all either trying to clear cap space or, as is Montreal's case, waiting on another team to to decide to move a player or not.

Lindros to Calgary (e3)

Two sources have told me that Calgary is the leader right now for Eric Lindros. Could be a really strong fit in many ways...more on this later

Foppa a Wing (e3)

There is a continuing growing feeling that some space will be left in Detroit so that Peter could join several fellow Swedes in Detroit come December...Although another source believes that Peter may be back in November.

No News on Selanne or Niedermayer Retirement Status

The Ducks don't know and are basically running into cap issues now. They have been extremely patient, and the longer you go the more you start to think the Ducks are going to struggle with either decision. A source told me yesterday that desite rumours that the Ducks know what is going on with the two players, they are completely in the dark.
