NHL Schedule is out - Just how dumb is this league?

The defending Stanley Cup Champion Anaheim Ducks will play their home opener on Sunday, September 30th...in London...at 9am PT. So I ask you, is this the dumbest decision ever made by a league schedule maker?

I understand that these two games had been planned well before the Ducks won the Cup, but they should both be Kings home games. The arena is owned by the same folks that own the Kings and Staples Center, it was their idea to play these games in one of the few nations in Europe that DOESN'T give a damn about hockey, and the Ducks should NOT play their first home game after winning the Stanley Cup...in London...at 9am Pacific Time on a Sunday!

But at least the NHL was nice enough to give both teams plenty of time to rest and recover from the absurd and unnecessary road trip. What's that? The Ducks play in Detroit just 52 hours later? The Kings first game after London is October 6th! They have five days of rest, the Ducks have two! Considering that the flight from London to Detroit will be longer than any team in the NHL (other than the Kings - but these games in London were their idea so they deserve to get screwed) make ALL SEASON and that the Ducks will have to recover from games on back-to-back days and international travel...they ought to give a great effort against a Detroit team playing its first game of the season.

But at least the Ducks won't have many games after the two in London and one in Detroit. What's that? They play five games in eight days, all on the road? Thanks, NHL! You're the greatest!

The idea of playing games in London was dumb...making one of them the home opener for the Stanley Cup Champion is dumber...making a team open the season by playing five games in eight days, all on the road and two of which are on another continent, is dumbest.
