Thanks to my man Garth for inspiration on the killer title.

He has just one name, and for a long time, because the picture of him is so small on my screen, I thought his hair was actually sunglasses, so I pictured him as this bald, Pitbul like hockey blogger and he became my favorite hockey blogger in a world of homogeneous automatons.

While it was disappointing that he wasn't actually a bald guy with sunglasses on his forehead, (which spawned this whole image of him writing in a bathrobe, playing the stock market with reckless abandon and writing a sitcom on the side), I highly recommend his work.

Last night the Captials beat the Red Wings 6-3. Since they shamefully only got three goals against Montreal last Saturday, they won two games 5-0, one 6-3 and have scored a combined 16 goals.

While allowing three.

They have scored 5+ goals in 13 of 20 games to start 2017. At least someone in Washington is having success.

The Capitals are crushing the opposition. They will be playing the Ducks on Saturday. Pass the orange sauce.

One crazy thing happened last night:

Think about that: four years, 315 games and a shot in every one. Ovechkin is so crazy good, it's hard to actually talk about him in this, the age of excessive hyperbole.

Everything and everyone is the best, we have short attention spans and the hype that is real and the hype that is manufactured by jerks trying to sell you something is usually impossible to distinguish.

Ovechkin is arguably a better goal scorer than Mike Bossy and Wayne Gretzky, Brett Hull or Mario Lemieux. The best of all time.

Of course, to make this argument requires math and adjusting for scoring rates in different eras, so it's not exactly popular, but it's still cool that it's even a possibility.

I wonder what happened to him last night though - no shots? What a dud!!

According to the Washington Post, who accorded it to the hockey-reference.com, who may or may not also be fake news, Ovechkin has gone just seven games in his career without a shot.

That's crazy. That's the same amount of times I have been arrested at a sporting event. (Once for going on the field after a game, six times for streaking).

What else? Burakovsky has a hand injury, or as I am legally obliged to call it, an upper-body injury to one of the extremities.

He might be out for a while. He will be replaced by Peter Bondra who is making a surprise return to the NHL to mark the ten year anniversary of his retirement. At least according to German golfing sensation Bernhard Lander.
