The Washington Capitals will be visiting the Montreal Canadiens today at 1 pm in some early afternoon fun. Two of the best teams kicking the day's triple-header off! What more can you ask?
A cold that gives you a justifiable excuse to stay inside all-day watching hockey? Check! A giant bag of Dill Pickle chips and a case of beer? Check, double check.
Good times will be had by all (I assume). Though probably not for Mrs. T who isn't exactly a big hockey fan. I took some advice from the new King and told her to dress like a women, and for some reason she doesn't want to watch with me anyways. Oh well!!
The game should be good, I mean Price v Holtby? That sounds like a Supreme Court decision on FUN.
Yesterday I talked about the Capitals at the trade deadline and I incorrectly attributed this quote to the GM when in fact it was the coach - here's the full quote:
It is interesting that the coach maybe doesn't want the GM to do anything. If it ain't broke......right?
That being said, the Capitals history of playoff failures will only be intensified if the GM does nothing and they still lose. Damned if you.....damned if I haven't hit like every cliche in the hockey-writers handbook so far today....
Personally, I'd rather add talent than worry about chemistry. I think you could completely scramble the team's chemistry and if you brought in significant talent, you'd still come out ahead.
I tend to think of chemistry as another one of those made-up hockey things like character and leadership and faceoffs that do matter, just not to the degree the narrative writers would like us to think. If I'm Brian MacLellan, I am going ALL-IN, I will FLIPTHESCIPT and put on my GAMEFACE.......I will try 110% to put NO I IN TEAM as I scour the league to improve my team.
Because this is the year the Capitals can win it all. The Generals are Due!
Today also marks the first day that Holtby will wear the new Skinny Jeans for Goalies the NHL is mandating in the middle of the season like some kind of amateur hour BS.
Maybe we'll be in for a 10-9 game.......or maybe the pants a goalie wears barely make a differnce. Who could tell?
