Final Score: Blue Jackets 5 – Lightning 3
Game Summary
The played another very strong game, and were rewarded by scoring five goals and picking up a win over the Lightning. Sergei Bobrovsky did not have his best performance, posting an .893 save percentage on 28 shots, but the offense bailed him out. This was a nice change from all the times Bobrovsky has carried the team over the course of the season.
Alexander Wennberg kicked off the scoring with his fourth goal of the campaign. He got the puck up high, took a shot, followed it up getting to the front of the net and made a nice move to beat Ben Bishop.
Wennberg was not done there. He is never going to be confused for a sniper and he made that clear on the game winning goal, with this ridiculous feed to set up Brandon Saad.
For Saad that was his first goal in eight games. He also had an assist, giving him four points over his last four games. He and Wennberg were both great in this game, each with two points and finished as the top Corsi players on the team at 65.22% and 62.5% respectively.
Cam Atkinson was another player who had a strong game. He was one of six Blue Jacket forwards to be over 60% Corsi, finishing at 60.71%. He had a goal and an assist in the game, both points coming on special teams. He assisted on the Blue Jackets second goal, a power play marker by Nick Folingo, and scored the team’s fifth goal, an unassisted short-handed goal.
