The St. Louis Blues have agreed on a three-year extension with Assistant General Manager Jarmo Kekalainen. The deal was agreed upon several weeks ago but wasn't officially signed until recently.

Jarmo has been with the Blues since 2002.

Blues pro scout Raimo Summanen is over in Moscow scouting the World Championships. Summanen is carefully watching all free agents playing in the tournament.

Defenseman Christian Backman's knee, which prevented him from playing in the World Championships for Sweden, is feeling much better after staying off of it the last four weeks. Surgery will not be necessary and the Blues have a solid off-season program set up for him. Backman expects to be 100% by training camp.

Jay McKee is also felling much better and continues to recover from his pelvic injury.

Doug Weight will provide in studio analysis for VS during the third round of the playoffs.

If the New York Rangers reach the Eastern Conference Finals the Blues first round pick they received from Atlanta will jump one spot from 19 to 18. The Rangers would then pick anywhere from 27-30.

The Blues first Round Pick they received from San Jose which used to belong to New Jersey will also jump ahead one spot if the Rangers advance past the Devils.

The Blues are grieving the loss of Cardinals pitcher Josh Hancock. Hancock attended about 10 games this past Blues season often watching from the Alumni box.

Rink Rats-

Eric Lindross is considering retirement and will make a decision within the next month or so.

The Nashville Predators believe Peter Forsberg will stay in Sweden next season and will not play in the NHL.

The Blues should think very hard about signing Buffalo Sabres forward Chris Drury this summer. A four year deal worth five million per season would be a wise investment if this organization is serious about winning. The Blues don't need 100 point scorers to take them to the next level.
