The Philadelphia Flyers have recalled veteran defenseman Andrew MacDonald from the AHL's Lehigh Valley Phantoms to substitute for injured defenseman Luke Schenn (lower-body injury, likely a foot or ankle). Schenn is slated to miss approximately two weeks.

Under the NHL's Collective Bargaining Agreement established in 2013, all but $950,000 of MacDonald's $5 million cap hit counted against the Flyers' salary cap figure even after he was waived and sent to the Phantoms at the end of the preseason. In order to recall him, the Flyers only needed the prorated equivalent of $950,000 of available cap space, which they had with the allowance for Mark Streit's $5.25 million cap hit while he is on long-term injured reserve.

MacDonald was paired at practice with Michael Del Zotto. The other two pairings -- Nick Schultz with Evgeny Medvedev and Brandon Manning with Shayne Gostisbehere -- remained intact.

Streit skated on his own for the third time since undergoing surgery to repair a detached pubic plate. For now, he remains on an every-other-day skating schedule but he hopes to increase it to daily skating in the near future. Streit indicated on Saturday morning that his projected timetable of an early January return holds in place for now.

The other big development at Monday's practice: Jakub Voracek skated on the first wing right wing position, with Brayden Schenn moving down to play right wing on Pierre Edouard Bellemare's line. The other lines remained intact. However, according to Flyers head coach Dave Hakstol as well as Voracek, the change was only for Monday's practice and Voracek will at least begin Tuesday's game on the Bellemare line.
