UPDATE: Newsday's Arthur Staple confirms Elliotte Friedman's report on Travis Hamonic requesting a trade prior to the start of the season. The report suggests that Hamonic requested the trade due to family concerns in Western Canada. I wonder when the trade was requested if the team told Hamonic to take time away from the time to address the concerns. The 25-year-old is signed through the 2019-20 at a very team friendly cap hit of $3.857 million.
Some injury news to report as Mikhail Grabovski was on ice for practice today. Grabovski suffered an upper body injury in Monday's 5-2 win vs the Arizona Coyotes. The 3-day break will do Grabovski good. Jack Capuano said that the trainers will take a look at him and go from there.
Grabovski has only played 80 games once in his career, 81 games for the Toronto Maple Leafs in 2010-11. He missed 31 games in his first season with the Islanders last season. If Grabovski cannot go Friday vs the Montreal Canadiens, expect Ryan Strome to return from his Bridgeport stint. Isles fans as well as myself will go nuts if Taylor Beck is in the lineup over Strome.
Former New York Congressman Anthony Weiner joined Dan and myself on the Isles Buzz podcast to talk the Islanders, a little bit of politics and Sharknado
