New Jersey Devils prospect Joseph Blandisi has been named OHL Overage Player of the Year.
The 20-year-old forward led the league in goals with 52, and finished 4th in league scoring with 112 points while leading the Barrie Colts to a Central Division title.
Blandisi recently finished up his OHL career, as his Colts were eliminated from the playoffs at the hands of fellow Devils prospect Ryan Kujawinski and his North Bay Battalion.
Blandisi recorded 14 points in nine playoff games, and had at least a point in eight of those contests.
The accolades continue to pile up for Blandisi after his exceptional year, and there's still potential for more as Blandisi was Barrie's representative for the Red Tilson Trophy - awarded to the league's most valuable player - and figures to be one of the finalists.
“Joe took it upon himself this past off-season to put himself into the best possible position to become one of the better forwards in the league,” said Colts General Manager Jason Ford. “His focus and willingness to win were second to none this past season, and we wish Joe all the best moving forward with the Devils organization.”
