The Speculation from the Meadowlands

Sources in Canada and the US are telling me the following story...

There are a strong group of leaders on the NJ Devils. Players that have a very firm grasp and have done things a certain way for years now to great success. These players in the leadership core were not being allowed to do things the way they do things this year. They were growing frustrated...(I talked to three players today who aren't part of that core, but weren't surprised by the firing..)

One of the things that was really bothering the Devils leaders was that certain players were being allowed to coast and the "attitude wasn't that of a cup champion." The room wasn't geared up..too casual...

According to two sources, one of the players that was the most frustrated and vocal was Marty Brodeur. Marty is not a trouble maker, holds alot of power and always yields it for good. He is having a phenomenal year, and I was told has been saying for awhile that things needed to change if this team was to win a cup. Marty is all business and must see this season as an opportunity that shouldn't be wasted.

Of course i am not stating that Marty got CJ fired...that is the furthest thing from the case...Marty does have influence and based on what he has done for the organization he should, but this Lou's move...

Lou said today during his interview on WFAN that "We" felt their needed to be a change. I believe he was speaking of his trusted core.

This all according to sources, but I do trust the sources who are talking to me.

If this is the case, you really need to hand it to Lou and the leaders, and it is no surprise why this team is always there at the end with this level of dedication to winning.

more to come...
