Happy Halloween!

This one is going to be brief today.

Last night's loss at St. Louis was bad. The Blues had three of their stars out for the night, but they showed how much tenacity and depth they had by taking the game to the Ducks. Anheim's offense was again anemic, they were shutout yesterday on the heels of scoring only one goal the game before. Defenseman Francois Beauchemin summed up the poor performance to Ducks.com. “It was a tough night, offensively, for everybody. We didn’t create much. We struggled offensively for the first two periods. That’s what cost us the game. “

The defense wasn't great either. Cam Fowler's giveaway on Ryan Reeve's goal was inexcusable. Reeves made a perfect shot and beat John Gibson. Problem is, he never should have had the puck in the first place.

Player Notes

Patrick Maroon is recovering from his knee injury ahead of schedule. He is a game time decision.
Josh Manson will make his NHL debut tonight. At this time there is no word on who he is replacing.

Coach Bruce Boudreau likes what Manson brings to the team. “ “He’s a mobile right-handed defenseman that can play physical like his dad,” Boudreau said. “He’s simple, as far as just getting the puck, and moving the puck. He had a good camp. We have a lot of faith in him, and we think he’s going to be a good player.“

Defenseman Bryan Allen is close to returning to the Duck's lineup. He was sent to Norfolk on a conditioning stint to help him get back in game shape.

Dallas has opened the season with a 4-2-3 record. They are facing injury issues of their own, but remain a dangerous offensive team. Frederik Andersen will start in the Duck's net tonight. I don't have tonight's lineup at this time, but expect Boudreau to change things up to jump start some scoring.
