The Buffalo Sabres can't score, but their littles brothers can

The Rochester Americans (4-1) are having no problems finding the back of the opponent's net this season.

They defeated the Adirondack Flames 4-1 on Friday night.

In ten games played this season, the Amerks have scored 21 (5 PPG) goals while allowing while allowing 11 goals against. The Amerks love to shoot the puck as evidenced by their 168 shots on goal.

On Friday night, Mikhail Grigorenko scored a goal, his third of the season, and assisted on another.

Joel Armia (2G, 3A) also scored a goal and added an assist.

Phil Varone and Johan Larsson also scored for Rochester.

Tim Murray may want to reach out to Rochester and call up a scorer who can jump start the anemic Buffalo offense.

I'd start with Grigorenko who has been playing a terrific 200 foot game and has earned a promotion to Buffalo.

My take:

Send Samson Reinhart back to Kootenay and recall Grigorenko from Rochester.

What's the worst thing that can happen by recalling Grigo?

Thanks, Dan Hickling

The Sabres have been shutout three times in the past four games. They have only scored eight goals in eight games this season. Their ninth goal on their goal stat total doesn't count because it was a shootout winner.

So, where are Nolan's 20-goal scorers? Moulson, Stafford, Hodgson, and Gionta have been invisible in the first 8 games. Its painful to watch 26, 21, 19 and 12 skate their shifts. They are not engaged at all in the offensive process and have not been for three weeks.

Looking for answers and offense, Ted Nolan flipped his lines around at Friday's practice in an attempt to find goal scoring. Ennis was given the day off and will return to Moulson's line. Or will he?

The power duo of Foligno-Stewart has been disbanded for now.

Reinhart is back centering L4.

Trios:

Foligno – Hodgson – Stafford

Moulson – Flynn – Stewart

Mitchell – Girgensons – Gionta

Deslauriers – Reinhart – McCormick

D Pairs:

Gorges – Myers

Weber – Meszaros

Benoit – Ristolainen

Goalies:

Enroth

Neuvirth

Per the Sabres

Patrick Kaleta wore the red practice sweater, while wearing a full face cage.

Tyler Ennis was given a maintenance day and did not practice.

Nolan said Reinhart will play against the Sharks on Saturday.

The Sabres power-less play is ohfer 27 on the season.

"It’s not going the way we planned, but we can’t pout, can’t sulk. We just have to work hard and dig ourselves out of it," Ennis said. "We’re all good players. We can make plays. We’ve had a couple bounces go the wrong way. We’ve got to create our own chances, create our own bounces and put the puck in the net."
