12:48 am: Cory Conacher is practicing on John Tavares left wing today. "Capuano is giving everyone a look" as per Butch.

11:52 am: Also, Calvin deHaan, sustaining an upper body injury, is on the ice alone. So there's that.

10 am: Art Staple of Newsday reports this morning from Isles camp at the Coliseum that Lubo Visnovsky was helped off the ice by trainers after being on the ice for a few minutes.

The Isles announce that Lubo has back spasms and is now day-to-day.

Undisclosed Injury ‏@NHLInjury · 2m
Rest, Ice and Compression for #Isles Visnovsky. Back spasms aren't the worst thing as long as it isn't a recurring issue.

Staple said Lubo was smiling as he left, and didn't seem too concerned. (Why should he be?)

The Isles are tuning up for their appearance tomorrow in Boston which will be carried on the NHL Network. There are now approximately 43 players in the Isles camp and AHL camp began today at IceWorks.

The New York Islanders announced today that they’ve trimmed their training camp roster by 15 players.

Forward Sebastian Collberg and defensemen Loic Leduc, Andrey Pedan, Adam Pelech and Jesse Graham have been assigned to the Bridgeport Sound Tigers of the American Hockey League.

Forwards Justin Courtnall, Colton Gillies, Chris Langkow , C.J. Stretch and Scooter Vaughan, along with defenseman Mark Nemec and goalie Shane Owen have been released from professional tryout contracts. Forward Ross Johnston and goalie Philippe Trudeau have been released from amateur tryout contracts.

Forward Lukas Sutter has been transferred to Sound Tigers training camp.

No one was placed on waivers to attend.** Check that, at 12:30 pm, Isles announce Brett Gallant has been placed on waivers.

It is Brian Compton's birthday today. Give him a shout-out.
