Quick and Doughty Injuries and Other Training Camp Notes

LA Kings training camp is officially going.

However, there are some notable absentees from the camp in Jonathan Quick and Drew Doughty. Not to mention Jarret Stoll and Kyle Clifford.

Quick is still recovering from offseason wrist surgery which originally had him projected for a 10-12 week recovery time. The 12 week time has passed and Quick isn't yet 100%. While we are still two weeks out from any game time action, this doesn't seem like any major setback for Quick starting the season at 100% fit . How sharp he is will be a different story.

The other absent player was franchise defenseman Drew Doughty, who is suffering from an upper body injury of sorts.

Yep. It's only September folks and we are already getting the elusive body injuries.

While originally it was thought to be a shoulder, maybe the same shoulder that bothered him during the playoffs and late in the regular season , it may be somthing else.

According to Yahoo! Doughty suffered the injury during an offseason workout back home in Ontario while skating with a pro group. This photo surfaced on facebook in regards to the Doughty injury shortly thereafter.

Yikes. Looks nasty. Before we go jumping to any conclusions about a bar fight or something like that, which are completely unfounded, this looks like it could be the result of a nasty slash/high stick or even a spill into the boards. Hopefully it's no more than just a bit of soreness and stitches that the Kings are worried about and not something that starts with a C and ends with N. The team seems optimistic nonetheless since they are categorizing it as a "day to day" injury.

And if anyone else was questioning it, Lisa Dillman was also on the case to put our minds at ease.

Other injury notes also include Stoll and Clifford.

Clifford is still recovering from wrist surgery. While Jarret Stoll is still rehabbing offseason hip surgery.

Welcome to the 2014-15 Kings Triage errrrrr Training camp.

Regardless of all these injuries the Kings will almost all be ready by the start of the season barring any setbacks to the aforementioned players. My big question, will they be ready for Frozen Fury? Who is passing up a trip to Vegas?

Also, there is a great read on LAKings insider about Mike Richards and his off-season visit from Dean Lombardi at his home in Kenora, Ontario.

Talk about a general manager who is taking an active interest in getting one of the games top players back into fighting shape. We asked earlier if Mike Richards was going to start the season as the Kings 4th line center, but it doesn't seem Dean Lombardi is going to let that happen. The man went to No. 10's house just to make sure he was taking his offseason training seriously. In Dean we Trust right?
