That's right it is time for part 1 of the annual rumors of rumors....

Talking to my sources around the league these are some of the rumors going around about what almost happened..

RUMORS OF RUMOURS...part 1.

Curtis Joseph to Toronto. This was close, really close to happening, but the Coyotes asked for more as the day went on...

Martin Gelinas. Sources were saying that as many as six teams had interest, with Ottawa, Vancouver and Pittsburgh in the running. Price was too high and a last second scramble fell short.

Other teams that made offers for Ryan Smyth included Detroit, Toronto, Montreal, Tampa and Anaheim.

Owen Nolan was almost moved to Detroit...The Rangers made a play.

The Rangers tried to get Norstrom plus for Prucha.

The Canadiens did make a late try to move Souray to Anaheim.

A trade for Jason Blake was worked out but not completed when Ryan Smyth was picked up..It was at that point the Isles decided to keep him after getting Ryan. There were several teams including Nashville, Calgary and Vancouver who were interested

Boucher was almost a Bruin and a Sabre before becoming a Blue Jacket.

The Flyers tried to move Esche to Tampa all day.
