Update:

One team from Florida has made the best addition possible at this year's trade deadline. Tampa Bay Lightning forward Steven Stamkos has announced that he will be back in his team's lineup for tomorrow night's home game versus the Buffalo Sabres. After a long few months of rehab, Stamkos was given the green light from doctors this morning.

The response from fans around the NHL has been overwhelmingly positive. A superstar is returning from a serious injury, and that's great news. It will be interesting to see how long it takes Stamkos to get readjusted to game speed and playing with his teammates, but at this point I'm just happy that he'll be back in time for the stretch run. If the Lightning's performance over the last week has shown me anything, it's that the team could certainly use a player like him.

Also of note this morning is that the Marty St. Louis talk is heating up. According to all three of the big TSN insiders, the New York Rangers are trying different looks in an attempt to get this deal done. The price, as you would expect, is high. Darren Dreger had perhaps the most interesting piece of news on the file; he suggests that Marty St. Louis is expected to push for a deal to New York today.

It's abundantly clear that this player wants out. If Glen Sather is offering up Callahan and a few picks, it's my opinion that Steve Yzerman should make the deal. While the current New York captain isn't an all-star of St. Louis's stature, I'll take a committed Callahan over a St. Louis who wants nothing more than to leave the team. Just make the deal.

I'll leave it at that for now. This should serve as a good starting point for discussion today. Should breaking news come down, I'll be here to update it right away.

As always, thanks for reading.
