Per TSN - for a 5th round pick in 08. Ek's favorite player is on the move once again!

Carter has 10 goals and 27 points this year and is on a one-year, $2.5 million deal. The Canes will be on the hook for approximately 24% of that, or $601,604.25.

Anson has played for Washington, Boston, Edmonton, NY Rangers, Los Angeles, Vancouver, Columbus and now Carolina (plus he's had second stops in NYR and Washington).

Looks like his trade value has come full-circle:

1996: Colorado traded Anson Carter to the Washington Capitals for 4th round selection (Ben Storey) in 1996

1997: Washington Capitals traded Jason Allison, Jim Carey, Anson Carter and 3rd round selection (Lee Goren) in 1997 to the Boston Bruins for Bill Ranford, Adam Oates and Rick Tocchet.

2000: Edmonton Oilers traded Bill Guerin and future considerations to the Boston Bruins for Anson Carter, a 1st round selection (Ales Hemsky) in 2001, a 2nd round selection (Doug Lynch) in 2001.

2003: Edmonton Oilers traded Anson Carter and Ales Pisa to the New York Rangers for Radek Dvorak and Cory Cross.

2004: Washington Capitals traded Jaromir Jagr to the New York Rangers for Anson Carter.

2004: Washigton Capitals traded Anson Carter to the Los Angeles Kings for Jared Aulin.

A good depth move for a team that won the Cup last year but is going to have to fight to make the playoffs this sesason, and have already suffered a couple key injuries in Cole and Stillman.
