Whenever the big boss here at Hockey Buzz hears and posts a rumor that mentions the Tampa Bay Lightning, this blogger likes to weigh in. In Eklund's latest rumor blog, he talks about hot spots for potential outdoor National Hockey League games moving forward. Surprisingly, he lists Tampa as one of the leading locales to host a ‘Stadium Series’ tilt perhaps as soon as next season. An excerpt from the post can be seen below.

The outdoor series will also continue with Montreal, St. Louis, San Jose and Minnesota, and Tampa leading the list to host the games.

The fact that Tampa is even being mentioned as a potential location for one of the league’s wildly successful outdoor contests is a testament to the work Jeff Vinik, Steve Yzerman, and the entire Lightning family have done to build a true hockey community. While the weather question will certainly dominate the discussion here, it’s worth noting that Tampa Bay has a history of putting on great hockey events. Aside from the obvious Stanley Cup celebrations of 2004, the city hosted the ‘Frozen Four’ festivities in 2012 and will do so again in 2016. Add in the fact that the Lightning's popularity is growing at cosmic speed, and this idea starts to make a little bit of sense.

I’ll leave the debate and discussion to you, the readers. What are your thoughts? Answer the poll question below and sound off in the comments section.

As always, thanks for reading.
