Chances are, few fans know much about Paul Vincent. He's never stayed in one place long enough to create lasting memories.

Originally a 6th round pick of the Toronto Maple Leafs in 1993, the American player never made it to the NHL but has carved out the dubious distinction of becoming one of the most well-traveled professional players in hockey history.

Before going over to Europe to ply his trade, the big center suited up for some 24 different minor league teams. The 31-year-old's travels have taken him through the the American Hockey League, International Hockey League, East Coast Hockey League, Western Pro Hockey League, Central Hockey League, United Hockey League, Southern Professional Hockey League and Atlantic Coast Hockey League.

Vincent also drifted through the semi-pro QSPHL in Quebec and the top league in Norway. The veteran of 650 games now plays in Holland for the Amstel Tijgers of Amsterdam.

In putting together my most recent Across the Pond article for NHL.com -- which looks at the Dutch league-- I found that there are plenty of players there with similar backgrounds to Vincent's, although not quite as dramatic.

The circuit's two top goaltenders, for instance, are a pair of former NHL draft picks-- former Chicago Blackhawks draftee Jonathan Pelletier(now with the Tijgers) and one-time Penguins selection Nick Boucher.

I always enjoy doing features on the lesser-known leagues and players in Europe, where the caliber of play isn't great, but the players (both imports and native-born players) usually have interesting back-stories. The teams often have great names, too, like the Geleen Smoke Eaters.

I hope you enjoy....
