The Islanders haven't had a record this bad in years. A lot of years according to Eric Hornick, Islanders stat guru and historian.
If #isles lose in reg, it will be 1st time since 1998-99 that they have lost 9 straight (no points) on road. Match longest skein since 72-73

They did in a 3-0 shut-out by the LA Kings which followed up the 6-1 loss to the Blues on Thursday. The addage goes "If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all." That's why I haven't written about those losses. What is there to say?

The fans are frustrated, the team is frustrated, even the Isles only beat writer, Arthur Staple, seems to be frustrated. Why else would he have to apologize on Twitter the way he did?

Apologies to all who read my exchange w/ one of the journalism experts around here last nite. It was juvenile and unprofessional on my part.

As I was hiding from the social media scene all weekend, I do not know what the exchange was about, but it's obvious Staple is not his usual reserved self. He too feels the frustration of a team that can't find the back of the net no matter what they do.

Yesterday he wrote what he could about GM Garth Snow "mulling changes" to his roster and coaching staff. That would be guessing at best since he reiterated that Snow and company bring nothing to the media until after moves are made. This type of "Super Sally Secret" policy makes it difficult to cover them or to love.

The West Coast trip continues tonight and perhas it's a good thing the games are on so late. Maybe many Islander fans on the east coast won't be able to stay awake to watch as the Islanders visit the Anaheim Ducks.

The Ducks are 20-7-5 with 45 points - 1st in Pacific Division, 2nd in Western Conference. The Isles are at the bottom of the Metro division with only 21 points. That's less than HALF.

Should the Islanders be able to pull a win in Anaheim, it will get their confidence back and perhaps they can salvage the season. If they cannot -- Like Eric Hornick says above, they will make history by beating their loss record of '72-'73.

Which will it be?
