Here is the transcript (edited) from Peter Forsberg at the morning skate.

He said a few times he wants to stay in Philly, then backs up and says he is not convinced the foot is entirely healthy, therefore, can't make a commitment on what the future holds.

I have said all along that if Foppa is NOT healthy, I don't expect him to be moved or even consider waiving his no-trade clause.

But recently ... he seems healthy and happy and he is playing better. That tells me he would consider being a "rental" player. Yet his comments today suggest he is NOT willing to give the Flyers an answer.

Again, Forsberg does NOT want to be the bad guy here. He is going to force the Flyers to be the bad guys ... if they want to trade him, they have to come to him with the trade offer.

Eklund is correct that while Ed Snider and Peter Luukko try to woo Forsberg, the GM, Paul Holmgren, is laying a foundation for a deal if Forsberg turns them down. Holmgren has NO choice. He has to operate with a "Plan B."

Here's the transcript:

Forsberg to the cameras: “I’m not going to discuss it right now.

Q - Given the lack of response, you might conclude it was bad meeting?

“You can draw any conclusions you want. I am not going to comment on it. I am not going to stop you from thinking what you want to think and do so. I have no comment until I speak with [Ed Snider] or Mr. Holmgren next time.

“I think it was a positive meeting. We do have an owner here who want to win. That’s great.

“Everybody knew there was nothing new.

Q - Did Snider put pressure on you?

“I’m not going to say anything.

Q- Reports say you will be traded between now and next three days.

“That’s just the internet. I’ve been going everywhere the last three weeks. I’m still here and like I said, I have no problem staying here. I like it here.

Q - If your foot is feeling better … what are you waiting for?

“Good question.

Q- Why so cryptic?

“You know, I don’t know either, why don’t you ask the owner. You can ask Mr. Snider. He’s the owner. He can say whatever he wants.

Q- You haven’t had a comment on it all year.

“I’ve had comments all year. I said I wanted to stay. I wanted to get my foot fixed and then I would think about my future. That is what I said all along. So I did make comments but I didn’t know because my foot didn’t feel good enough [before] and I didn’t know how long I was gonna play.

“I don’t know how [the foot] is going to feel. I am not 100 percent. I don’t want to go through this again next year. It’s been a tough year. I know how bad I have been playing for a while. It’s nothing like that I want to go through again.

Q- Can you know that [you will be feeling better] by Feb. 27?

“I don’t know. It’s whatever, 16 days away.

Q- Do you need to go into the summer?

“Well … I wish I knew right now or five months ago that it was gonna be ok. It’s five or six games and I think it’s a little early to say if it’s going to be good enough. I think I need to play a little more to know if it’s going to be 100 percent.

Q- Your fans, who come to see you play, want to know if you will be here next season. At no point have you said, 'I want to go in there and I want to re-sign' and be here next season?

“All I have said and stood by it all year is I want to get my foot fixed ... It’s not like I wanted to leave or wanted out of here. I like it here. It has not been my intention to leave.

Q- Would you be excited to be part of a rebuilding team?

“I wouldn’t see it as a rebuilding team next year. Definitely not. I think this is going to be a good team next year. It would be easy to rebuild it. We got a lot of good young players and maybe all we need is some older guys to fill in the spots.

Q- Can you see yourself being part of that?

“I’m not going to answer every single question. I’m not going to go any further.

Q- Can we assume Snider gave your assurances [the club] will be better [through free agency]?

“I’m not gonna go into that.
