What is basically Sound Tigers prospect camp started today at the Nassau Coliseum. This is a list of the invitees to the camp. many of which have already played either many games or at least two games last season with the squad.

However, while I was trying to find out who these guys are, the Islanders quietly signed several of them to try-out contracts.

However, while I was trying to find out who these guys are, as many were in college last season, the Islanders quietly signed several of them to try-out contracts.

Goaltender Ken Reiter and defenseman Dallas Jackson agreed to professional tryout contracts. Greg Miller, Riley Wetmore,Mike Dalhuisen, Mike Keenan and goaltender Parker Milner all signed amateur tryout contracts.

Now, from an a make it or break-it perspective, we have to imagine that both Kirill Kabanov and Calvin deHaan have one last shot at advancing their careers. Both have been sidelined by injuries and both were highly regarded in their draft classes. Also, both have been through this drill before. It will all depend on how far they have come and developed both physically and mentally.

I can't believe that Calvin deHaan was from the same draft class as John Tavares and also in the first round. Kirill was in the same class with Brock Nelson and from what I saw at the end of last season, Nelson has improved in leaps and bounds while Kabonov may not have even taken baby-steps.

But we'll see.
