The Pat LaFontaine house in Lloyd Neck has been featured many times in commercials and features about the man, his charity, his accomplishments and his out door hockey rink. It was even featured in an pre-Olympics commercial for Canada with LaFontaine and other celebrities (i.e., Michael J Fox). The fact that it looks out over the Long Island Sound didn't seem to matter.

It's a beautiful home with five bedrooms and seven bathrooms and 7,000 square feet of Long Island Luxury. Custom designed and only ten years old. But the most amazing feature is the adjacent out-door rink and locker rooms that LaFontaine built. He's hosted many a charity hockey game on that rink and if you look hard enough on facebook, you'll even find photos of it gracing hockey playing firemen's pages as well as Denis Leary's website.

It pains me to think he's selling it, but the price isn't even that bad at $6.995 million list. The kicker is -- the rink isn't included. I would hate to see this hockey legend leave the Island, but understand when a house jus gets too big.

Hmmm... Maybe John Tavares should buy it!! That's what I'm thinking!

Speaking of great sales, today from 9 am to 4 pm, the Islanders are having their annual pro-shop blow-out sale at Iceworks in Syossett. The prices are slashed considerably, even though hockey gear itself is expensive as hell. You may find a bargain or two. So if you're driving around Nassau County today, stop on over and see what they have. They'll also have a limited amount of used Isles hockey gear too. Although I still am not sure why we buy that stuff. I have a pair of skates and two used sticks that I keep wondering why I spent money on them. The case for the stick is more than the stick is worth. Weird.

Speaking of bargains, a little blip on Twitter may send fans screaming coming hockey season as someone tweeted their Ticket Rep confirmed that Parking at the Coliseum will increase to $12. Well, that won't go over well.

Just remember that not all that money goes to one place. But I sure as hell would love to know the split!

And don't miss Matt Martin on Sunday at the VMAs. Should be interesting. Maybe he'll check someone on the red carpet or something. (sight gag)
