The Kings acquired Dan Carcillo. Or have they? That was the word about two hours ago.

Why? I have no idea. Can't stand that guy.

But obviously, the Kyle Clifford contract situation is worse than we thought. Eklund suggests Clifford could be sent to Montreal. He hasn't been dealt yet, so that means there's still time for the Oilers to do something. Clifford would be the perfect 3rd line addition.

Tough to make this deal. Tough.

You aren't going to deal anyone named Gagner, Hall, Eberle, Nugent-Hopkins, Yakupov, Perron, Nurse, Klefbom, Petry, Justin Schultz, Smid, Gordon, Dubnyk or Ference for him. You aren't going to deal the Oilers 1st round pick in 2014 for him. The Kings don't really need more D, so sending Anton Belov or Nick Schultz doesn't work. Joey Jojo Bob Joensuu, Ryan Jones, and Ben Eager aren't worth enough. The Kings can't absorb Ales Hemsky's cap hit.

Ryan Smyth?

Okay, seriously. There's one of two ways this happens, and I'm not sure I like either.

1. Anton Lander + a random prospect. Maybe someone like Toni Rajala or the rights to Hartikainen.

2. A good prospect (think Martin Marincin) + the Oilers 2nd round pick in 2015. Or two quality prospects.

The problem in all of this? The Habs and about eight other teams could offer up better stuff than the Oilers can. Are you a gambler? Would you give up the Oilers 1st in 2014, banking on Clifford becoming a solid NHL'er and the Oilers being a playoff team (and therefore, they wouldn't be giving up as much in a 1st round pick)?

Hello, Oilers management...Are you awake?

Polo.

Polo.

Polo.

Breaking: Penner has signed with Anaheim. LOL.
