The Hawks, as reported by Eklund, are close on a 3 year, rumored to be $4.5 million deal with Ray Emery—to remain in Chicago.
I'm told the Hawk strategy going in to unrestricted free agency is to look for Michal Rozsival-like veteran players to approach them (perhaps including Rozsival) on potentially cap friendly short-term deals—with the hopes of winning a Cup or at least going far in the playoffs.
While the Hawks will not pursue Vinny LeCavalier or Danny Briere, I'm told they would be interested talk with either of them about such a deal.
One UFA the Hawks have on their radar, I'm told, is Oilers winger Ryan Jones, a big player with some skill, coming off an eye injury.
All for now,
More as I have it,
