Penguins May Accelerate KC Talks....

The Penguins visited Kansas City about a month ago, at that time they told them they would have an answer about relocation in 30 days. That deadline will hit this weekend and the Post Gazette reported that the team might accelerate talks with Kansas City if negotiations here are not concluded soon.

I have to look at this as nothing more than additional posturing on the Penguins part. There are still a couple of things that they are fighting hard to receive and this could be the way to get them. If I were trying to convince someone to give me a little more in a negotiation, I would remind them of the other option on the table at every turn.

I still feel that the deal is very close in Pittsburgh. It seems to me that they were close early in the week and someone spilled the beans, which upset the Penguins and caused a little backtracking. As I mentioned in an earlier blog, the Governor stated that this would not be negotiated in the media, but he and other politicians close to the situation speak daily to the media. Their comments push the Penguins to answer back in ways like today.

We have to allow this situation to run its course...which should still result in a positive outcome for Pittsburgh.
