Islanders, who have been excellent on the road, have a chance to clinch today with a win over the Jets.

A 2 - 1 start is not a bad thing. Josh Bailey continues to improve this season as he scores the Isles second goal. Another assist from Okposo proving again he's a great set-up man. Nielsen is just terrific as usual.

A tie game with only a few moments left in the second period. Once again the refs are trying to dictate the game as Nielsen pays the prcie for it taking a hight stick. Kyle Oklposo tries to fight Bogosian but is kept from doing the job as the tie game is tied 3 - 3.

Matt Martin and Wheeler drop gloves as well. Gotta keep cool. Let's not get stupid

With 9:14 left of the third, Michael Grabner puts the Isles ahead with a goal, his 16th of the season. Assist tos Colin McDonald and Lubo as well.

The Jets tie the game at four after pulling their goalie with the Isles two men short and the game headed to OT. No matter what the Isles di they couldn't score. Dustin Byfuglien runs over Nabokov with .7 seconds left of the OT period and draws a penalty.

In the shoot out, Brad Boyes scores but Ladd ties it at one. John Tavares scores and wins for the NY Isles to get the extra point. The Jets fans rain boos down on JT, but he really doesn't care. They needed this now at 2 - 0 on the road trip so far.

But with the Jets getting that point, the Isles now have to wait to see if they clinch a berth till Tuesday. ( all this according to Chris King)

Brain Strait played 15:56 in his first game back after injury. Not a bad way to get back to work. John Tavares not only won the game in the shoot out, he won 73% of his face offs.

Matt Martin must be losing his touch as he was credited with only two hits in this game. But he did score his fourth goal.

Jack can't be happy that the Isles were 0 for 5 on the power play. Special teams are the most important, aren't they?

Brad Boyes is quotes by the Isles Twitter feed as saying "We learn how to win games like this, we're foighting for our lives out there. It's a great sign and everyone's chipping in."

Kyle Okposo made mention of Lubo's goal tending prowess this afternoon as well. "He made a heck of a save for us in OT."

Visnovsky told Staple of it "I just go down and try to play like Nabby. No problem."

All good in WinterPeg as the Isles pack up and travel to Hurricane country where they haven't had it too easy.
