How on God's green earth is Rolston going to pull Jhonas out of the Buffalo net in Boston?

Enroth has earned a win in consecutive Sabres games for the first time since 11/4/11 vs. Calgary and 11/5/11 at Ottawa.

Jhonas told me: "I take it one day at a time. Thats all I do".

Ryan Miller must be wondering when he'll be getting his net back.

Enroth was dominant in his back to back wins of Philadelphia and Tampa this weekend. He's 4-0-1 with a 1.55 GAA and .951 save % in his last seven starts.

Enroth is en fuego

Thanks, sabres.com

Jhonas Enroth wins his second game in a a row.

The Sabres (42 points) now trail the eighth place Rangers (46 points) by only four points. All other teams in the Eastern conference are idle tonight, therefore they move up in the standings.

The Sabres will play the Rangers, the Jets, and Islanders in the next week.

I asked Kevin Porter to give me his assessment of the four point weekend.

“It’s huge; two big teams that are below us in the standings, so points are huge....six games left, so we are going to make this pretty interesting.”

Porter scored a beauty of a goal on a 2 on 1 breakaway with his partner in crime Bryan Flynn.

“We created some chemistry over the past month or so and we have been playing well so we just have to keep that going.”

With his goal, Porter extended his point streak to a career-best four games ( 1 goal, 3 assists). Porter now has seven points (3 goals, 4 assists) in his last seven games

Rookie D Chad Ruhwedel was all smiles in his locker stall after his second NHL game. I asked him about the new chin zipper that he received when Benoit Pouliot's twig clipped the kid's face.

"Whatever. The guys said" Welcome to the NHL". I'll take it".

The kid will have to get used to "the guys".

As in battleship John Scott's "Zoolander" runway walk photo bomb.

Sunday was locker clean out day for the Quebec Remparts, who were dumped from The Q playoffs after losing game five on Friday night.

Mikhail Grigorenko admitted to Olivier Bosse of LaPresse that he is not happy with his performance in the second round versus Rouyn-Nornada:

"In the first round against Chicoutimi , we played well. But in the second round against Rouyn , it seems that we were not ready. For my part, I have not played as well as I would have liked. "

When asked when he will be heading to Buffalo to receive his next pro hockey assignment, Grigo said:

"I have not heard yet, probably because it is the weekend. Maybe tomorrow [Monday]. In the meantime, I read and I rest ".

He'll need his sleep because there is a lot of hockey left to be played in Buffalo, and in Rocehster.

Given his option, Grigo prefers to play in Buffalo, however, he'll gladly accept a roster spot in AHL Rochester, too. Just as long as he is playing hockey, he's cool with it.

"I hope to go to Buffalo and finish the season there. But if I go to Rochester, this will also be a good experience "

Grigo added, that he enjoyed his two seasons in Quebec City, however, he's now ready for a fill time job in th eNHL.

"I played half a season in Quebec, a half of the season in Buffalo, in addition to the World Junior Championship. These are all very rewarding experiences, but it's not always easy to adjust to each level and each team. "

"Next year, I do not come back here. I hope to play dan NHL. "

Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun reports that

A Spring "house-cleaning" of sorts is likely to occur in the future for the Colorado Avalanche when their dismal season ends.

The word is that Avs ownership will be looking to replace team president Pierre Lacroix, its GM Greg Sherman and its coach Joe Sacco. Keep an eye on hockey hall of famer Joe Sakic as they heir apparent to assume the leadership position in the Avs organization. Sakic has been working in the team's front office since he retured three seasons ago. Garrioch says that Sakic would be interested in having hall of famer and Avs legend Patrick Roy return to Denver to head coach the Avalanche.

Very interesting stuff here.

Roy knows how to coach the young guns and the Colorado roster would fit him like a glove with Landeskog, Duchene, Stastny, Johnson, et al in the fold right now.

The Sabres have want to keep an eye on this developing story thats occurring in the Rockies.

Patrick Roy sure would look good coaching his former pupil Mikhail Grigorenko, to say nothing of polishing organizational gems Joel Armia, Zemgus Girgensons, Dan Catenacci, Justin Kea, Jake McCabe, Chad Ruhweler, and the rest of the Sabres for the next ten seasons, wouldn't he?

Roy's Quebec Remparts were eliminated from the QMJHL playoffs by Rouyn-Noranda on Friday night, which means that Roy's free to start talking about his future with interested NHL clubs now. Will he stay in Quebec City with his Remparts, or will he see if the ice is whiter and greener in the NHL?

Is Buffalo interested in Roy? Should they be? If so, they better make book a flight to Quebec City now so that they can speak with the hottest head coaching candidate to come along in years. The Sabres do have a couple of advantages over other teams in terms of leverage in getting Roy to come coach the Sabres. In not particular order: Grigorenko, his son Freddie plays in Rochester, a deep pool of young prospects, solid goal tending, a solid veteran core.

The coups de gras for Roy is the ability to stoke the fires of the divisional rivalry by playing the hated Montreal Canadiens head to head.

Before the Sabres can dip their toe in the Patrick Roy pool, they must first decide what direction they will take organizationally. They need to address whether or nit they want a new head coach moving forward or if Rolston is their man. Will Darcy Regier be the GM moving forward? Will another hockey man (Rick Dudley) be brought in to work with Regier? What will become of 2014 UFAs to be Thomas Vanek and Ryan Miller?

The Sabres have to be considered a candidate to land Roy vis a vis the relationship that he has built with Regier the past few years as it relates to the development of Mikhail Grigorenko.

If I'm Buffalo, I'm pulling out all of the stops to get to Patrick Roy with a proposal before any other club, like Colorado, gets to him first.

3-1 Sabres

Pouliot charged right back and beat Enroth to end his shutout streak.

**

3-0 Sabres

Porter and Flynn go Lennon-McCartney, and collaborate on a pretty 2 on 1 breakaway that Porter tapped in past Garon.

****

2-0 Sabres

Jochen Hecht scored his fourth goal of the season, second in past six games.

Gerbe picked off a pass at the blue line and wasted no time slipping a feed to Hecht who gained the blue line, loaded up, then buried a wrister past Garon from 27 feet away.

Nice transition goal.

1-0 Sabres

Tyler Ennis busts his 10 game goal scoring slump by scoring a first period power play goal
and it's now has 10 goals for the season.

Rolston moved Ennis off his centre ice role and he's now playing the wing. Marcus Foligno moved from winger to the pivot.

Is this Ennis telling the coach that he wants his job back?

***

Enroth starting his second game in a row.

Thoughts Mr. Miller

****

Ron Rolston but with media earlier this afternoon. He would not commit to naming his starting goaltender for today's game against the Tampa Bay Lightning. Rolston paused when asked if Jhonas Enroth would be getting his 2nd Street start in the past 24 hours.

Rolstin said that Enroth's neck is feeling better two days after he was involved in a collision with a teammate in the late stages off Saturdays 1-0 Buffalo shutout over the Philadelphia Flyers.

Enroth made 29 saves for his third career shutout.

More to come...
