Expect the Ducks to Remain Quiet on Deadline Day

Since the re-signing of Corey Perry and Ryan Getzlaf the Anaheim Ducks have all but disappeared fro the rumor mill. Of course there are those who insist it is in the Ducks best interest to trade Bobby Ryan and that of course is nothing more than fanciful dreaming.

Why would a team with Stanley Cup expectations trade a young goal scorer under contract for the next two seasons? Exactly.

With that said, any NHL GM will make a deal if they believe it helps his team - Bob Murray is no different. Anaheim could be interested in adding another center behind Getzlaf and Saku Koivu, but it's slim-pickens out there and Anaheim's intended target is no longer available.

The Ducks were very interested in Dallas Stars' center Derek Roy. Sadly, he was acquired by the Vancouver Canucks earlier today. With Roy no longer an option, Anaheim may be content to go forward with rookie Peter Holland and recently acquired face-off specialist David Steckel. (Hey, it could be worse.)

I don't see much out there in terms of an upgrade for the Ducks. Anaheim has been pretty consistent offensively all season long and currently has two perfectly capable goaltending options to compliment that very balanced scoring attack. If anything another scoring threat from the blue-line would be nice. Too bad those are few and far between. I expect the deadline to pass with the current roster intact.

What do you think? Do the Ducks need to make another move or are you happy with the roster the way it is?

I will create a new blog should the Ducks make a deal and update any additional transactions in there. Happy Deadline Day!
