Just like that, the Sabres have won three in a row against two tough division foes, and the playoff are withing arm's reach. However, not everyone in Pegulaville is feeling the love.

The "Booin' For Drouin" and "Groans For Jones" campaign managers and constituents are not happy right now.

Are you?

Thomas Vanek scored both goal to deliver his team to a well earned 2-1 win in Montreal. The Sabres have now beaten the Habs twice in their own building this week.

Vanek scored the games's first goal by tipping home a Christian Ehrhoff point shot for the PPG. The Sabres now have PPGs in four straight games.

He also scored a beauty heel drag on Carey Price with 38 seconds remaining in the second period. Oh by the way, the Sabres have no scored PPGs in four straight games.

Ryan Miller made 38 saves for the win, twenty of which were of the game-changing variety. Miller was outstanding between the pipes and gave his team the chance to win.

On Tuesday, you were imploring Darcy Regier to sell off Miller, Pominville, and all of his assets in order to insure that the Sabres will lose out and have the inside skinny on Seth Jones, Jonathon Drouin, or Nathan MacInnon on the upcoming NHL draft in June.

The Sabres have now won three games in a row versus Montreal-Toronto-Montreal, and the team is now only two points out of the eighth playoff spot in the Eastern conference.

We went through a really dark kind of time, but something had to come from it," Miller said. "I think when we stick to a patient game, we can play with teams that have established a good reputation, that have established a good record like Montreal. But it's a matter of doing it night in and night out consistently, and we'll have to build that consistency and recognize what it does on the ice."

The Sabres are now 13-15-4, and they have pulled to within two points of the eighth and final playoff berth in the Eastern Conference. Miller said that there's a long road ahead. Thats why he doesn't look at the standings every day.

"Maybe it helps some of the guys in the room, but for me, we're going to need to win hockey games right to the end," Miller said. "There's no easy way to get to the playoffs, even teams that are at the top can't coast in. You want to be playing good hockey for the next month here, so we just want to get our game together and see where we land."

With 30 points, the Sabres now have 30 points in 32 games played.

The NY Rangers and Carolina Hurricanes have 32 points apiece.

The NHL trade deadline is on April 3. The Sabres are expected to be active.

Last week, they were thought to be odds on "sellers: at the trade deadline. Now, they are definitely in sell-buy mode.

The next two opponents are the Tampa Lighting and Florida Panthers, the 14th and 15th teams in the Eastern standings, respectively. What happens when they win both games? They'd arrive home at the end of this week with 34 points. The projected cut line for the eighth and final playoff spot is 52 points. Can the Sabres earn 18 points in their final 14 games? At this pace, the answer is yes.
