**Update
It appears that the Vancouver Canucks have not taken to the air as of yet after being told that the Calgary Airport is having complications due to weather. Due to bad weather, the airport has reduced flights going out and flights coming in. The Canucks still hold they will make it to the Saddledome for puck drop, however time is against them. With a condensed schedule as it is, I would imagine that it would be rather difficult to reschedule this game if they cannot make it in time.

After an interesting couple of days, the Calgary Flames will try to regroup as they take on the Vancouver Canucks at the Saddledome. Vancouver, who sits 8 points ahead of Calgary, is 8th overall and 1st in the Northwest, so tonight’s game will be no easy feat for the Flames.

We’ve faced off against the Canucks twice this season and in both match ups we lost. Even though the Flames have lost both games this year to the Canucks, one game went to OT and both games featured Irving in net, so tonight is an entirely new game.

Though a lot of fans don’t hold out much hope for the Flames tonight, a win would be big and it isn’t as unachievable as you may think. There is no word yet on which goalie the Flames will face tonight but if I’d assume Vancouver will try to let Luongo bounce back against the Flames especially since Schneider was in net last night.

Iginla has just recently found his stride and started producing offensively and after coming off 2 road losses, hopefully he’ll be extra competitive tonight. In fact all the Flames players should be heated after the offer sheet mess and blowing a three goal lead against Colorado. I certainly hope Hartley skated the group hard shortly after that game...it wasn’t very impressive to say the least.

Hopefully Iginla and Tanguay can find good chemistry and give Calgary fans a good showing tonight. In their first game against Vancouver, Tanguay had a great goal breaking in with Iginla. Using quick shots as they break in will probably work the best against the Vancouver defensemen but they can also find opportunites on the rebound as did Stempniak with a goal in their last match up. Last night against the Canucks, Williams earned a goal for the Kings from an outside rocket, so Wideman and Boumeester should take opportunities to beat the Vancouver defense from outside.

Vancouver is feeling good after breaking their losing streak last night and they played a gritty game against L.A. The Sedin brothers are both playing well and sit at 21 and 20 points overall. Defense will have to be strong and they will need to be assiduous while watching the twins in addition to Burrows who likes to hang onto the puck and wait for opportunity to present itself. Our powerplay has been off and on this season but overall it can be effective, allowing Vancouver to take penalties and avoiding the box could help earn two points.

Either way, the Flames will have to play a full 60 minutes of hockey, if they lose another game in the 3rd period, it will send fans over the edge. Tonight they have a chance at redeeming themselves in front of their fans against a top team.
