The New Jersey Devils have made their first bit of news since the lockout officially ended, bringing in veteran forward Mathieu Darche to training camp on a tryout basis.

Darche brings a lot of experience, leadership and is versatile on where he can play in the lineup. If not anything else, he'll push the young guys such as Bobby Butler and Mattias Tedenby to earn their potential spots rather than having the spots handed to them due to a lack of depth on the wing.

The Albany Devils were in action last night against the Worcester Sharks. Albany picked up a 4-1 win in large parts due to the efforts of players they could or will lose to the NHL this season. Leading the way was winger Mattias Tedenby and defenseman Eric Gelinas, both of whom registered a goal and an assist.

Adam Larsson and Bobby Butler both pick up an assist in the win, and Keith Kinkaid was solid between the pipes stopping 16-of-17.

Stephen Gionta and Jacob Josefson were banged up and did not play. Both are considered day-to-day.

According to Igor Erenko of Sport.Ru, KHL president Alex Medvedev will be in North America in February to try and convince the Devils to buy him out allowing him to return to Russia. In my opinion this is a PR move to try and show Russian hockey fans they're doing what they can to get him in Russia, but I don't see it happening...at all.
