Hot Isles Prospects Quotes & Hamonic?

So with the honor of being invited to Team Canada for the World Juniors late this month, the Isles prospects will be in media demand for sure. As a matter of fact, Ryan Strome was on NHL Radio Network tonight on the Power Play discussing his second trip to the World Juniors. But here is something he didn't tell them on the radio tonight:

Ryan Strome‏@strome18

I think it's easier to hold onto a 3-2 lead late in the third than it is to hold a pita together right to the last bite #NapkinPlease

I thought that Tweet showed a little of Ryan's winning personality that you really can't help but fall in love with. But the best part of the interview was when the radio announcer mentioned that if RNH wasn't fit enough to participate in the tournament, then Ryan would be "the number one center." Not bad. Ryan does have 59 points in 30 games, not bad either.

Big boy Griffin Reinhart is quite a character, on and off the ice. He's learning a lot with the Edmonton Oil Kings, including how to deal with fans:

Griffin Reinhart‏@GriffinReinhart

Some guy asked me to sign his bag of almonds and I did it. He then proceeded to say "hey man you just signed my nuts" well done sir

Griffin has ten points and ten PIMS in 28 games so far and is a fan favorite on both sides of the hockey border.

Todd Cordell called Adam Pelech probably the Isles best 'unknown' prospect. The Erie Otter has 24 points and 53 PIMs. I'm guessing he's not really 'unknown' to the teams he plays against.

To keep up with all the Isles prospects near and far, follow the work of Travis Betts on the Islanders website.

Speaking of a Travis -- while Hamonic did not participate in today's skate with the Tigers, CT Post beat writer Michael Fornabaio did say he was "up and about" after the game after being helped off the ice. Hopefully, this is not a long term injury for The Hammer.

*Note: Thank you, thank you to the readers that have stuck with me this long! Our road has been rocky, but I really don't know what I'd do without the companionship of other Hockey fans!

7 am: The Sound Tigers lost AGAIN over the weekend to the Norfolk Admirals. This is more than a slump now, it's a slide to oblivion.

Brock Nelson scored the Tigers only goal in the game in the 4 - 1 loss which gives the Tigers a 10-9-0-1 record and 21 points. Where was that great start they had?? Even more of a concern to me than their skid is the loss of Travis Hamonic early in the second period as he had to be helped off the ice by the trainer. I have not heard how bad he is. I asked but received no response. THAT makes me a little nervous. * Note Travis did not practice with the Sound Tigers this morning, and neither did Ulltrom or MacKay.

But, you have to say, at least Brock Nelson is developing quite nicely down in Bridgeport. I didn't have much hope for that gangly kid, but it looks like he is going to be the real deal.

Also impressive is the Islanders three hot prospects being invited to Team Canada's Natiional Jr. Team. Adam Pelech, Griffin Reinhart and Ryan Strome. Congratulations. Make the Isles proud.

Sideboards: So the NHL and the NHLPA will meet again for a 'casual' meeting. This is getting beyond frustrating. Like our US Government, the two sides can't seem to keep themselves from falling off the 'fiscal cliff.' Both will ruin what they think they are trying to save. Although I think the impact of a failing US economic structure may be just a tad more important than NHL hockey. Although I'm far more interested in the hockey thing than the political thing.

YO!!! BIG WIGS!! TRY COMPROMISE. IT'S THE ONLY WAY TO SALVATION!!!

Update, they started the meeting at 2 pm and broke for dinner around 7 pm. That's a lot of hot air in one room don't you think?
Enjoy your day the best you can HBers
