Just because there isn't Isles NHL hockey right now doesn't mean the Isles staff is doing nothing. However, because there isn't Islanders hockey right now I almost missed this piece on Isles staffers helping out at The Inn for Thanksgiving.
Watch the piece and you'll see some of those behind the scenes people you've read about. Many of them are the ones I miss seeing three or four times a week. It's a big void. But what we're forgetting is the void that the lack of NHL hockey is having on charities. It doesn't help that all of us on the East Coast have been touched by superstorm Sandy. As Long Islanders we are just tapped out.
That fact has not been lost on the Isles who has been tireless in their efforts to fill that void.
I'd also like to thank the Nashville Predators for holding events for the benefit of Sandy Relief. This is the great thing about the hockey family. Too bad our parents aren't freakin' TALKING TO EACH OTHER!!
Sideboards: Sound Tigers lost their game over the weekend so I pretended it didn't exist. It was another blowout and one they certainly want to forget. But I think it will stick with them for awhile since they're not playing again until like -- Friday.
The NHL & NHLPA have agreed to a mediator. It will either help the situation or it's just a clever ploy for the PA to get one step closer to decertification. Great.
