Coming off a five-game road trip, the Adirondack Phantoms (6-8-0) will begin a home-heavy portion of their schedule tonight. The Phantoms, who have played 10 of their first 14 games away from the Glens Falls Civic Center, now have a six-game homestand on tap.

First up are the Bridgeport Sound Tigers, the New York Islanders' AHL affiliate. Game time is 7:00 p.m. EST.

The Sound Tigers bring a 10-4-0 mark into tonight's game, and have won each of their last two games. Nino Niederreiter has lit up the scoreboard in the early going of the season, racking up 17 points (9 goals, 8 assists) in the first 14 games. Other standouts include Brock Nelson (7 goals, 14 points in 14 games) and defensemen Matt Donovan, Aaron Ness and Travis Hamonic. Casey Cizikas is injured.

Adirondack has allowed 10 goals in its last two games after yielding just four over the previous four games. The offense has also been spotty, especially the power play. The team has over-relied on Brayden Schenn (8 goals, 17 points in 14 games) and Sean Couturier (3 goals, 11 points in 12 games) to carry the offense.

In an effort to get a little more offensive spark into the lineup, the club has recalled second season pro Jason Akeson from the ECHL. Last season, Akeson led the Phantoms in scoring.

PROJECTED LINEUP (Per the Saratogian, subject to change)

Harry Zolnierczyk - Sean Couturier - Jason Akeson
Tye McGinn - Brayden Schenn - Shane Harper
Zac Rinaldo - Rob Bordson - Ben Holmstrom
Eric Wellwood - Garrett Roe - Mike Testwuide

Erik Gustafsson - Marc-Andre Bourdon
Brandon Manning - Danny Syvret
Oliver Lauridsen - Cullen Eddy/Zack FitzGerald

Scott Munroe
Cal Heeter

A few weeks ago, I had the pleasure of interviewing Trenton Titans captain Ray DiLauro for an article for the International Ice Hockey Federation's official site. We talked about his remarkable career journey that has literally taken him around the world to end up playing professionally right near his hometown.

The Bensalem, PA, native has played professionally for 16 different teams on three continents. He's played in the AHL, ECHL and CHL. He's traveled the world to play in Germany's DEL, Austria's EBEL, Italy's Serie A and in even for a Japanese team in the ALIH. Now he's playing for a team located a stone's throw from Bensalem.

DiLauro took me through his many hockey travels: growing up a diehard Flyers fan in the Philly suburbs (he's still a Flyers fan at heart), playing collegiate hockey, bouncing around the North American minor leagues, experiencing life on and off the ice in three European countries and Japan and now taking on the challenge of being the team leader on a young Titans club.
