Every Team, Every Player To Participate In 2007 Teammates For Kids Auction...

The National Hockey League (NHL) and National Hockey League Players’ Association (NHLPA) announced today a league-wide jersey auction to benefit the Garth Brooks Teammates For Kids Foundation. Game-worn jerseys from every NHL player, more than 600 in total, will be available for bidding through NHL.com and NHLPA.com.

The on-line auction begins today and will consist of six overlapping two-week auctions that will run through January and February. Jerseys from the Carolina Hurricanes, New Jersey Devils, New York Rangers, St. Louis Blues and Washington Capitals will start the auction and be available until Jan 24.

The 2007 Teammates For Kids Auction features authentic jerseys worn by all players on each of the 30 NHL team rosters during one select home game in January. Each jersey has a commemorative, one-of-a-kind embroidered patch emblazoned with the NHLPA, NHL and Teammates For Kids “Every Game. Every Kid.” logo and has been security-tagged, serial numbered and registered into the NHL-MeiGray Group Game-Worn Jersey Authentication Program. Each sweater comes with a Letter of Authenticity from the NHL and NHLPA. All services for this auction will be provided by the MeiGray Group and Truition, Inc.

"This league-wide jersey auction highlights the level of commitment that the players, the NHLPA, the NHL and its Member Clubs have towards improving the lives of children," Garth Brooks said. "I'm very grateful that this auction will support our programs."

As a result of every player’s involvement in the auction, the NHL becomes the first professional sports league to achieve 100% athlete participation in the Garth Brooks Teammates For Kids Foundation.

In November 2005, the National Hockey League Players’ Association and National Hockey League jointly selected the Garth Brooks Teammates For Kids Foundation as the official children’s charity of the NHL and NHLPA. The partnership focuses on the Top Shelf Teammates program, a division of the Garth Brooks Teammates For Kids Foundation, which contributes financial resources to non-profit organizations that benefit children's health, education and inner-city services. Since its inception, NHL players have donated more than $1.5 million.

The 2007 Teammates For Kids Auction builds on the existing partnership between the NHLPA, NHL and Garth Brooks Teammates For Kids Foundation and leads into an array of events involving Garth Brooks surrounding the 2007 NHL All-Star Celebration in Dallas. One of the many highlights at the 2007 All-Star Celebration will be an All-Star Benefit for Garth Brooks Teammates For Kids Foundation presented by the NHL, the NHL Foundation, the NHLPA and Texas Dodge Dealers on Monday, Jan. 22 with a performance by three-time Grammy-Award winner Trisha Yearwood.
