Today's topic for the blog come from Steve Szentveri. He asks if I think the Canucks will seek any kind of retribution against Duncan Keith when the teams finally lock horns again.

This one is a little complicated. Do I see a member of the Canucks jumping Keith Bertuzzi-style? No. But that doesn't mean Keith won't have a target on his back? Yes. But, then again Keith is the Hawks best player – or at least in my opinion he is— so he should be getting hit every time he is on the ice regardless of the history he has with Daniel.

The next time the two teams square off, I can see it having a bit of the same feel that the game between Bruins/Canucks last January. There will be some stuff after the whistle, lots of scrums and more fights then the average game. But I think it will end with that. We're not going to see Keith have to fight three times and I highly doubt we will see Daniel drop the mitts with him.

However, if Keith does decide to fight someone, my money would be on it being Burrows or Kesler, with an outside chance of it being Bieksa if Keith has been eating his spinach during this lockout. Keith is not dumb and he knows fighting a fourth-line guy just doesn’t make much sense. Nor do I see the fourth-line being on the ice against him much either. If anyone fights him, it will be a meaningful Canucks player.

Here is an estimate on the box score

1st
3:55- Carcillo and Kassian for fighting
6:00- Brookbank and Lapierre for fighting
8:00- Toews scores- 1-0
13:54- Daniel score- 1-1
18:05- Bickell and Weise for fighting
18:49- lots of talking after the whistle, Ref hands out several roughing penalties

2nd
0:55- Bolland scores- 2-1
2:15- Sharp scores- 3-1
2:18- Kesler and Keith for fighting
9:02- Booth scores- 3-2
12:36- Bolland and Daniel to the box for roughing/slashing
19:06- Toews scores- 4-2

3rd
5:07- Daniel scores- 4-3
16:22- Kassian scores- 4-4

What are your thoughts on the next time Vancouver and Chicago meet?

Poll

Yesterday I ran a poll on what peoples enthusiasm was for the NHL right now. Today I'm curious to see how people felt a few months back before the lockout.

On a scale of 1-10 (10 being totally jacked), what was your enthusiasm for the NHL around August 1st?
