With all the devastation around Long Island, CT, Staten Island and the rest of the East Coast, the NY Islanders is offering a bit of respite in the form of free Bridgeport Sound Tiger tickets for Saturday and Sunday's games.

Can you make it? If you think you can, call a ticket rep at 1-800-882-Isles Ext 2. Tickets are subject to availability so call tomorrow if you can make it. Saturday's game is a 7 pm tilt against the Hershey Bears and Sunday's game is an afternoon battle against the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins. I'm going to try to make it Sunday.

Nino Niederreiter has six points in six games, he leads the team. Meanwhile Travis Hamonic and Blaire Riley lead the team in penalty minutes with 16 each. It would be great to see these men on the ice again.

Now, with the cost of the ticket still in your pocket, the Sound Tigers will be accepting food donations for those in need due to Sandy's wrath. Bring a few canned goods with you to the arena. No one should go hungry.

Now, the question is, are the Ferrys back to normal? If you saw the news footage, Port Jefferson was under water. Actually, they have added service, so the ferrys are running.

Happy 80th Birthday to Al Arbour. Yes, the man who lead the Islanders to four Stanley Cups is an Octogenarian. (Is that how you spell that?) God Bless the man who is one of the greatest coaches in NHL history. I am happy that I had the pleasure of meeting him during that single game in 2007. It was magical.

And lastly if you are in a position to donate to the Red Cross either monetarily or with your own blood that you bleed blue and orange, it would be greatly appreciated. If you text REDCROSS to 90999 you will be donating $10 to the relief effort. You can call 1-800-Red-Cross to make any other donation.

If everyone pulls together, we can get through this. Human beings are capable of incredible feats of strength and compassion. Now is the time to show them.

Meanwhile -- the Winter Classic is in danger of being cancelled and the NHL itself in danger of being simply -- forgotten. Stupid.
