New Jersey Devils defenseman Anton Volchenkov won't be able to suit up for the Devils if the NHL season begins in early November, according to Devils President and General Manager Lou Lamoriello.

Volchenkov fractured a bone below his ankle in a KHL game while playing for Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod and is expected to miss the next four-to-six weeks.

If the NHL resumes in early November, which seems unlikely but is still possible, Volchenkov will miss at least the first few weeks of the season.
