10/5/12: Good Morning people. Bridgeport won their first pre-season game against the Providence Bruins last night with Nilsson in net making 34 saves. The game started out chippy as there were multiple fights in just the first few minutes. Sundstrom, Halmo and even Nino scored for the Tigers giving them their first win of the season.

Now, the voting on Left Win isn't as hight as the other two polls, so I can't give you the Right Wing voting until we add a few more to this total. So... VOTE already!

10/4/12 2:06 pm: And so it begins -- or ends. However you look at it. The League has cancelled the beginning of the season through 10/24/12. For the NY Islanders that is six games. Congratulations NHL and NHLPA. Should there be a 2012-2013 season, the Stanley Cup will once again have an asterisk next to the date for the abreviated season.

UNIONDALE, NY (October 4, 2012) – The National Hockey League announced today the cancellation of the 2012-13 regular-season schedule through October 24.
The Islanders were scheduled to play six games during that time frame, including three home games.
The cancellation was necessary because of the absence of a Collective Bargaining Agreement between the NHL Players’ Association and the NHL.

10/4/12 11:25 am: Michael Grabner has made a decision to not sit around Long Island any longer and wait for a resolution to the lockout. He is leaving to play in his home town in Austria, Villach. Or at least that's what I can get out of this. It looks like his first game will be Sunday for VSV. http://www.ecvsv.at/?p=4879

10/3/12 11 pm: No movement on the NHL front, but the AHL buses are rolling. The NY Islanders Twitter feed has had Twiterviews with some of their young players the last few days and the answers given are a good way for fans to get to know these players. It humanizes them and should create some interest in the Sound Tigers while we wait for the NHL season to start or be cancelled.

Matt Moulson has had a very large tattoo placed on his ribcage in honor of his daughter. Matt has been skating in Connecticut to stay in shape as he has no intention of heading to Europe with a young daughter at home. **Travis Hamonic is also sporting a new tattoo which you can find a photo of on Twitter.

Casey Cizikas is still nursing a groin strain, although he is on the trip for their preseason games in Massachusetts and New Hampshire.

The Cross Sound Ferry may have another ticket package for the Sound Tigers as in previous years. We need to check on that one.

In Newsday, Nino Niederreiter tells Art Staple he never thought about going to the AHL over the summer. Um, excuse me? I guess he never spoke with Garth Snow either. Here is the quote from Art Staple's aricle from Wed, 10/3:

"I didn't even think a little bit about the AHL this summer," Niederreiter said on Monday, following the Sound Tigers' second full practice at IceWorks in Syosset. "I was prepaing to do everything I could to be a part of the NHL team, and that's what I did. When this lockout is over, I'm going to prove I belong with the Islanders."

So here we are, ready to choose four Left Wingers. Again, if there are errors in the list, blame the Media Guide.

PLEASE NOTE: John Tonelli is listed as a RW in the Media Guide! So he will appear in the next poll.
